An article was recently posted on RecordClearing.org regarding a background company that was must pay millions in a settlement.
The law suit alleged that the company, HireRight, violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The background check company was not verifying criminal records, reporting expunged convictions, and even sometimes supplying incorrect information. This caused many people to not be hired due to the incorrect background check information. In this economy, it is extremely hard to secure employment and it is important that companies supply correct information.
